Essentials
Before we dive into the decorating, lets gather our essentials:
- Sugar cookies, store-bought or homemade. It's super easy to make at home and they are way more delicious! Give our fail proof, no spread sugar cookie recipe a try!
- Cookie cutters & 3D pop embossers stamps. I'm using Mosque Window Pattern, Mosque Frame Pattern & Eid Greetings Font Embosser.
- Fondant, store-bought or homemade.
- Edible gel food coloring (If you are mixing the fondant color).
- Rolling pin & depth guides
- Cornstarch
- Water
- Paintbrush
Decorating Process
I've opted to create ombre effect with fondant for this mosque pattern design. The smooth merging of hues creates a visual gradient that is extra appealing. However, it is important to note that achieving this seamless blend requires a bit more rolling effort. Yet, the end result is definitely worth it!
- Prepare two (or more) different coloured fondant of your choice and place them side by side.
- Start rolling with rolling pin. Once its rolled together, fold it in half, and continue rolling.
Keep on repeating the 'roll & fold-in-half' process until desired outcome.
I'm using depth guides that fit into my rolling pin to ensure that my fondant thickness is at 5mm.
This will ensure my final fondant thickness for cookie is around 2-3mm. - Dust the 3D Pop Embosser with cornstarch if needed, to avoid sticking.
- Place the rolled fondant on top of the 3D Pop Embosser and roll over it with rolling pin.
- Remove fondant from the 3D Pop Embosser gently.
- Use cookie cutter to cut out fondant.
- Stamp on sweet messages like 'Eid Mubarak', 'Selamat Hari Raya Maaf Zahir & Batin' using font embossers.
- Add a touch of gold using fine tip paintbrush and gold gel coloring or leave it as it is.
- Brush a thin layer of water on the back of the fondant piece and stick it on top of the baked cookie.
While these mosque pattern cookies are elegant on their own, they are also perfect when presented together with other Eid Raya designs!
These fondant decorated pieces can also be serve as embellishments for cupcakes, brownies, cakes, perfect for sharing the joy of Eid celebration!
Happy decorating! ️⭐🌙
